// about homoground//

I started doing an audio podcast called HOMOGROUND which features music by queer (&friendly) bands. I’ve done a podcast like this in the past, but lately when I was searching for new queer music, all i could find were over polished bands that sought the approval of what a mainstream gay/lesbian band should be. I wanted something gritty. I wanted something raw. I wanted to hear bands from towns I’ve never heard of & wanted to share them with others. I realized how important music can be for young queer people, especially those who grow up in isolated communities with no one to relate to. I was that kid growing up. I craved a connection with someone who would understand. That void was filled the first time I went to a show & saw a queer band live. I finally found where all the people like me were hiding.
In line with my life mission to create queer media & making it accesible through technology, I started doing this podcast which is becoming more than just a podcast, but a community of queer (&friendly) musicians & music lovers.
Featured on the show so far: Screaming Females, Tender Forever, Rachael Cantu, Allison Weiss, Humble Tripe, The Feverfew, Gina Young (of Team Gina), Emilyn Brodsky, Zombie Dogs, Hot Mess, The Ovens, Butts, Pink Flag, The State Of, My Gay Banjo, The Get Real Gang, Midtown Dickens and Kellie Ann.
